Travel Insurance

Emergency travel insurance provides coverage for you and your dependents while travelling outside of your province of residence. It can reimburse emergency medical expenses and help you access appropriate care, so keep the number handy when travelling!

Your GreenShield emergency medical travel benefit allows you to take advantage of a vast network of medical providers, resources, and contacts, all offering quality service, when you travel outside your home province and experience a medical emergency. When travelling, it is recommended that you bring the following with you: your GreenShield identification card, provincial health card, and a credit card in case you need to pay out of pocket for a medical expense and submit a claim 

Travel assistance will help you arrange care, payment to hospitals and health care providers and directions to the most appropriate clinic or hospital.

Beyond medical needs, your travel assistance can also ensure transmittal of urgent messages along with coordinating claims and interpretation services.

Note: expenses may be eligible for direct payment through insurance, or expenses may require out-of-pocket payment and then submission of a claim for reimbursement. Contact Travel Assistance to confirm before paying for expenses.

If you are travelling for company reasons, you have additional insurance through AIG Travel Guard for emergency medical expenses and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D). AD&D insurance can be a part of your plan to provide financial support for those that depend on you should you pass away.

Note: this is only applicable to Samuel employees; dependents are not eligible for coverage.
